As a native Miamian, I started very early appreciating the wonders of the South with its vast swamps and diverse wildlife.  My art comes form the earth revealing itself in the beauty of Cypress Knees.  Individually selected for their character and form, they permit me to create unique masterpieces.  As an artist working with Cypress Knees, my hands and tools expose the woodspirit within each knee.  Although I have carved many subjects and in a wide array of materials, I find myself drawn to Cypress Knees.

You will see as you view my galleries that there is a wide range of work I do, and it is constantly expanding.  Some of my most recent works include gun stocks and electric guitars.  I am always looking for ways to combine my carving with my other interests.

My interest in woodcarving was kindled when meeting a wood carver while at a folk art festival on the Blue Ridge Parkway at the age of eight.  The way that he handled the wood and made it come to life fascinated me.  When he noticed how mesmerized I was with what he was doing, he gave me an old pocket knife and a piece of wood and told me, “just carve”.  I carved for many years, never getting too serious until as an adult, teaching woodshop at a local middle school, I was able to indulge in my passion and pass it on to my students.  The time spent teaching carving allowed me to improve my skills and develop them into what you see here today.  Now I am fortunate enough to carve full time.

I hope my work brings you joy.
